Let’s start with the ingredients…
Face it, traditional sunscreens aren’t concerned with the ink on your skin because their formulas weren’t designed with tattoos in mind. Often times, they’re packed with harmful chemicals. We’re talking parabens, sulfates, phthalates, silicones, artificial colors, artificial dyes, petroleum, mineral oil, yadda, yadda, yadda. Here at INK the original, we took out all the bad ingredients, and left only the good ones. See how nice we are.
And remember that our sunscreens provide maximum protection using the highest quality mix of organic, antioxidant and reef-safe ingredients for all skin tones and all tattoo types. Happy skin = happy tattoos. P.S. Think wearing a higher SPF gives you more protection? Not so. SPF 50 blocks 98% of UV rays. The difference between SPF 50 and SPF 100 is only 1%. Remember that for Jeopardy.
Which leads us to the fragrance and finish…
When you think of traditional sunscreen scent, you think of coconuts, pina coladas or Fruity Pebbles. Those strong fragrances are added to traditional formulas to mask the natural scent of sunscreen. We take pride in being completely fragrance-free. We see those sensitive skin folks cheering in the background, knowing their skin won’t get irritated. We know you love us. And we love you too, baby.
Even better? What makes our sunscreens different is that our glide-on and super-fine 360 spray formulas go on crystal-clear. None of that white lotion, which hinders your tattoo’s detail and vibrancy. Our formulas are invisible. So invisible, you'll forget they are there, but your tattoos won't.
Best of all, our sunscreens leave a satin finish that’s never greasy or oily. They dry in a heartbeat, where as traditional sunscreens leave a greasy, oily or sticky touch to your skin. We’re all about imparting a clean, satin glow to the skin.
And then there’s the animals…
No animals were harmed in the process of making our sunscreens. Only humans. More on that later. We perfected our formulas with over three years of cruelty-free testing. To make things really official, we earned both PETA and Leaping Bunny and certifications – the later being the global gold standard of personal care products. So you can feel good about the product you're using.
Now back to the humans. With our sunscreens, we conducted what’s called a Human Repeat Insult Patch Test (HRIPT). We worked with a lab to conduct an 8-week clinical study of 50 people with different skin types, different ages and different genders. This was done under Dermatologist Review. The results backed our claims, including our Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB claim and our 80 Minute Water Resistant Claim – both of which are also regulated by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Pretty fancy stuff.
Point is, you’ll want to use protection made specifically for your tattoos. We know what it’s like to get an art piece painted permanently on your back. You oughta protect it. So use the best stuff out there.
